Thermocerin is a weight-loss supplement that is marketed to be the “world’s most powerful fat burner available without a prescription.” How many times have we heard this one? Many weight-loss products make similar claims. They also state that they have a “formula that offers so much more than the commonplace fat burners,” however I fail to see how this formula is any different from countless other supplement formulas on the market. It sells for $59/bottle for a 30-day supply of pills, which is quite expensive for a weight-loss supplement.
Ingredients and How it Works
The company alleges that Thermocerin “communicates with your fat cells” to release the fat into your bloodstream by converting them out of “storage mode.” Once in the bloodstream, the fat can be used for energy. This happens by utilizing the body’s production of heat, otherwise known as thermogenesis. To make this happen, Thermocerin gives consumers a precise blend of five active ingredients:
Scientific Evidence
There is no scientific proof that this particular combination of ingredients in Thermocerin is effective for weight loss or stimulating thermogenesis. Thermocerin’s website alludes only to studies on the power of green tea for weight loss. The combination of green tea and caffeine has been shown to induce thermogenesis, but because the label does not tell us how much of each ingredient is in the product, it is hard to verify the effectiveness of this supplement.
User Feedback
Of course there are plenty of positive customer testimonials on thermocerin.com, but when I did a web search to find more user feedback of this product, I found few.
“All of my life I had a gut. I thought it was something I would always have, but then a friend told me to try Thermocerin. When I combined Thermocerin with an increased ab workout, the results were amazing. Not only was my gut gone, but I replaced it with a six-pack. I lost a total of 24 pounds in just 4 weeks. Now I recommend Thermocerin to all of my friends.”
-- K. Chase from Lansing, MI
This woman posted a complaint of side effects that she experienced while taking Thermocerin for only two days:
“I have felt really terrible the last two days while using it, dizzy, light headed, tired eyes, etc.”
--Rachelle Louise in March, 2007
I can only imagine that there are many others who have experienced these same side effects. Any type of stimulant, such as those found in this product, have the potential to cause jitteriness, insomnia, nausea, and even death.
