Propolene is a diet product containing a high-fiber plant extract known as Glucomannan, Konjac-mannan, or “Propol” as the manufacturer has branded it. Feedback from buyers has been extremely negative (from what I've found on the web, see "Feedback" section below.) The negative comments focus on extra charges to credit cards (recurring) and side effects experienced by some.
How it works
Glucomannan, the main ingredient in Propolene, is a soluble fiber. Glucomannan seems to promote a feeling of fullness when taken with water. It may also have beneficial effects on blood sugar levels, according to some trials.
Propolene Manufacturer Claims
"Clinically proven to reduce body fat" - this statement is in TV commercials and on featured on propolene.com - However, they don't include specific information about the studies on their any of their sites. The FAQ section is brief and not very informative.
Scientific Proof?
A search on Pubmed turned up a few small clinical studies on Glucomannan, the active ingredient in Propolene. The abstracts I reviewed indicate that Glucomannan (Propolene ingredient) seems to be effective and well-tolerated for weight loss. It should be noted that these studies were small and details are limited.

Feedback
Propolene reviews and feedback on several websites has been very negative. Every complaint I read was related to incorrect credit card charges. Many people claim that they were charged repeatedly on a monthly basis for the product, even though they specifically ordered only 1 bottle. Here is a quote from someone named "Susan" on Infomercialscams.com:
"After finally giving in to the commercials claims and making sure through the order taker on the phone that the ONLY charge on my credit card would be 29.95 unless I decided differently, he assured me NO OTHER CHARGES would be taken. Well, since then these people have taken over $300 from my bank card account causing me to bounce checks. I sent the product back only to find another charge just 2 weeks ago."

Side Effects of Propolene
Consumer reviews on the web claim negative side effects, but they are impossible to verify and could be unrelated to Propolene.
