CLOUT

By Elizabeth Myers, RD

CLOUT is manufactured by M.A.N. and is marketed as being the strongest over-the-counter performance enhancer ever made at effectively increasing stamina, strength, and recovery. It discerns itself from other creatine formulas by having ingredients that are demonstrated in “scientific studies” to boost your body's natural abilities to fight the major causes of fatigue, improve recovery, and amplify explosive muscular power, thus leading the future for muscle-enlarging nutrition.

Clout sells for $68.95/bottle of 50 servings, with the recommended dose being one scoop twice daily.

Product Claims

  • “Stimulate Explosive Muscular Power and Strength”
  • “Support ATP Formation and Replenishment”
  • “Build Lean Muscle Mass”
  • “Enhances Oxygen Delivery and Uptake”
  • “Supports Endurance and Recovery”
  • “Delay the Signal That Triggers Muscle Loss”
  • “Increase Time to Exhaustion”

Active Ingredients and How it Works

  • Orotine: a combination of creatine and Orotic Acid that enhances muscle function and performance
  • Beta Alanine: precursor of carnosine which enhances muscle performance and is touted as being “the next creatine”
  • Acetyl L-Carnitine HCL: enhances energy
  • Inositol Hexaphosphate: reduces GI upset in relation to phosphate loading, boosts muscle performance
  • N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC): an antioxidant that enhances muscle performance while decreasing muscle fatigue
  • Magnesium Orotate: needed for protein synthesis
  • Vinpocetine: increases energy levels and muscle performance

Scientific Evidence

M.A.N. quotes many studies on their website regarding their ingredients, but there is no proof that these are credible studies because there was no mention if they were double-blinded, placebo-controlled studies that provided reliable results that were free of partiality,. After some research on my part, I found that the National Institute of Health has this to say about creatine in terms of enhancing athletic performance and endurance: “It has been suggested that creatine may help improve athletic performance or endurance by increasing time to fatigue (possibly by shortening muscle recovery periods). However, the results of research evaluating this claim are mixed. Findings from different studies disagree with each other, and most studies do not support the use of creatine to enhance sustained aerobic activities.” Their research findings were also mixed with regards to muscle strength/mass.

Consumer Feedback

“Vastly superior creatine matrix and one of the best supplements on the market, period. I used 2 bottles of Clout for 8 weeks whilst bulking and went from 180lbs at 11% to 198lbs at 12.1% in the same time period.”

“I based how good this stuff was by how much faster out of the ordinary I get stronger... My bench typically goes up about 5 pounds a week... and with this stuff it was still 5 pounds a week....taste sucks...”
